Sozopol, perched on its promontory high above the Black Sea, is one of the most historic places on the Bulgaria Black Sea coast. As long ago as then seventh century BG, Greek colonisers settled there and called the town Apollonia after the Greek god Apollo, the protector of sailors.

It is a real town with immense charm and character set high on its promontory with fabulous sea views from its cliff walk. When the summer visitors leave, the seven thousand local inhabitants, many of whose families have lived and worked here for centuries, continue their quiet lived.
